PROGRAM DESIGN
During the first year, the Infectious Disease fellows will rotate through our general ID consultation services for seven months. Fellows will be combining in-patient clinical rotations with a month of Clinical Microbiology learning experience, 2 months of Outpatient Clinical Consultation Service with emphasis to HIV and STD care and 2 months of elective consultation services. Fellows will rotate their services through both in-patient hospitals (Larkin Community Hospital and Larkin Community Hospital Palm Springs Campus), as well as out-patient clinical Infectious Disease office at Project Access Foundation – Bayshore and Biscayne Medical Campus.
During the second year, fellows will rotate through our general ID consultation services for 6 months. Fellows will be combining in-patient clinical rotations with 2 months of Outpatient Clinical Consultation Service with emphasis to HIV and STD care and 4 months of elective consultation services. Fellows will rotate their services through both in-patient hospitals (Larkin Community Hospital and Larkin Community Hospital Palm Springs Campus), as well as out-patient clinical Infectious Disease office at Project Access Foundation – Bayshore and Biscayne Medical Campus. Second year is maximized to offer fellows the opportunity to choose a clinical tract of specialty choice.
Fellows will be expected to attend weekly educational conferences through their training, including ground rounds, journal club, and other educational conferences where interesting and challenging cases are presented and discussed.
Fellows are eligible for infectious disease boards after two years of training.
