Applicants should be graduates of a medical school accredited by the AOA or LCME. This program has been designed to provide comprehensive postdoctoral training in the care of patients in the surgical and clinical settings of Ophthalmology, and to prepare residents for examination leading to board certification in this discipline.
The mission of the Ophthalmology residency program at Larkin Community Hospital is to train skilled, well-rounded, and compassionate eye physicians and surgeons who will make lasting impacts both in their communities and in the field at large. Residents will learn their specialty in a variety of settings from some of the best ophthalmologists in the state of Florida in both comprehensive and subspecialty areas. They will be trained in all of the core techniques of medical and surgical ophthalmology, and will also be encouraged to capitalize on opportunities for research and innovation. The curriculum of the integrated four-year Ophthalmology residency at Larkin Community Hospital aims to prepare residents to achieve board certification by meeting all ACGME requirements for training, and, if desired, prepare them to enter competitive fellowships in the subspecialty of their choice.
