PROGRAM DESIGN
This program is designed to provide fellows with advanced and concentrated training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and prepare to be competent physicians in their field. Training follows ACGME competencies in medical knowledge, communication skills, professionalism, systems-based practice, patient care, and practice-based learning that are critical to Hospice and Palliative Medicine physicians to be attained. The fellows will work in different settings including inpatient hospital care, outpatient clinic and hospice care. Rotations in specialties such as pediatric palliative care, inpatient palliative care, outpatient palliative clinic, hospice medicine, as well as many others, will equip the fellows with the knowledge and proficiency to become a skilled hospice and palliative medicine physicians.
Additionally, structured didactic lectures, morning reports, and journal clubs are included in the curriculum to supplement clinical training with an emphasis on patient-oriented, evidence-based medicine.
